About Us

With a heritage spanning more than 110 years, The Briggs Group has played a significant role in the Australian timber industry, evolving from traditional sawmilling to becoming a trusted supplier of premium veneer and panel products for architectural and interior applications.

The Briggs story began in 1908 when George Largie Briggs established the first sawmill at Dorrigo, NSW. A new mill followed at nearby Megan in 1915, alongside a furniture and joinery factory to support growing demand. Continued expansion led to the establishment of a sawmill and village at Briggsvale in 1923, with veneer milling commencing in 1933 — marking the beginning of a long-standing commitment to craftsmanship and technical expertise.
Extensive plant modernisation in 1972 positioned the company at the forefront of industry innovation. Around this time, Briggs pioneered the peeling and marketing of regrowth eucalypt veneers, and in 1983 further expanded operations with the addition of a plywood factory.
By 1993, the business strategically shifted away from sawmilling to focus on sourcing and supplying high-quality veneers to the interior fit-out and specialty markets. Operating from Seven Hills, NSW, Briggs Veneers became increasingly driven by architectural specification, establishing strong relationships with designers, architects, and builders.

Continued growth led to a move to larger, purpose-built premises in Wetherill Park in 2006. Over the following decade, the product offering expanded to include reconstituted veneers, dyed veneers, prefinished veneer laminates, and fireretardant MDF — reflecting a commitment to meeting the evolving needs of
